A redemption fee is an additional fee charged when an expired domain has entered the Redemption Grace Period and can no longer be renewed at the normal renewal price.
Why Is There A Redemption Fee?
Once a domain reaches redemption, the domain registry may charge an additional fee to recover and restore the domain.
The redemption fee is not simply a Fridge Hosting penalty. It is linked to the registry process required to recover an expired domain after the normal renewal period has passed.
What Do I Pay?
Recovering a domain from redemption normally requires payment of the applicable redemption fee together with the domain renewal fee.
The exact amount depends on the domain extension and the fees charged by the relevant registry or registrar.
Important
If a domain is not recovered during the redemption period, it may eventually be deleted and become available for registration by someone else.
